SKINS!  POSTSEASON!  CRAZY!  CRUSHING DALLAS AS I WRITE!  21!

A Little More

Love is all around you now
So take a hold
Hidden in our words
It sometimes ain’t enough
Don’t suffocate day after day
It’s building up
Cause when you’re feeling weak
You know I’m strong enough

Christmas Knowledge…

duccio-madonna.jpgThought I’d post a little test and see how deep our Christmas knowledge really is.  This is only a test, don’t worry if you miss only a few or a whole bunch, it’s just fun to test yourself and see how much you really know.  I’ll post the answers next week!

1)  What was the name of the angel that visited Mary and told her of her miraculous pregnancy?

2)  Who issued the decree that the census should be taken that caused Joseph and Mary to go to Bethlehem?

3)  Jesus was born in Bethlehem, but where did he grow up?

4)  What did Joseph ”have in mind to do…quietly” once he found out Mary was pregnant - yet after a visit from an angel, never did it?

5)  How many magi or wise men does the Bible say visited the baby Jesus?

6)  What were the gifts of the magi?

7)  What king tried to coerse the magi to reveal to them the location of the baby Jesus?

8)  Which of the following did the angel NOT tell Mary about her son: 1) he will be called the Son of the Most High, 2) he will sit on the throne of David, 3) he will take away the sins of the world.

9)  Elizabeth and Zechariah were the parents of whom?

10)  According to Luke’s gospel, what was the old man Simeon promised that would happen before he diednativity_giotto_fig5.jpg?

11)  What did the prophet Anna do when she saw Joseph and Mary in the temple?

12)  What is a manger?

13)  What was the shepherds’ reaction after they first saw the baby Jesus?

14)  According to Mark’s gospel, where was Mary when the angel visited her?

15)  What happened with Elizabeth’s baby when Mary visited her after Mary had been visited by the angel?

Top 10 Reasons to Love Snow

Snow-Clad-Trees-thumb.jpgCan I just say, I love the snow?  I can’t get enough snow.  People tell me they hate the snow and I can’t understand, so I ask them and they say things like - “I hate driving in it,” or “it means summer is as far away as it can get,” or “it’s too cold…blah, blah, blah.”  So here are my top 10 reasons to love snow:

10) skiing/snowboarding

9) White Christmas - enough said 8) There really is nothing like whitetail hunting in fresh snow

7) Giant snowballs!

6) Snowforts

5) Icy parking lot, no one around, rear wheel drive

4) School gets out (I still vicariously rejoice when school is out for snow!)

3) to see my dog George play in the snow is well worth “suffering” through the cold

2) That sticky kind of snow that gets all over the trees - leaves, branches, trunk and all

1) Snow angels - real evidence that not only is there a God, but that he must love the snow too

21

Well, I’m sure there are a lot of bloggers out there writing or who have written about Sean Taylor, but I wanted give props myself to a guy who really was an amazing athlete and one of the best safties in the league.  He’ll be missed by us fans, but much more by his friends and family.

I was at the game last week - the first one they played without him - and it was amazing.  The Skins came out with 10 men on the field, it gave me chills.  Several times when the defense was on the field we were chanting “Taylor, Taylor, Taylor” - more chills.  The reality of it and the depth of sadness was viceral.  I later heard that many players cried their way through the game.  We won’t forget him…
