Wow…
So I’m working in Panera today and I can’t help but overhear this conversation between two men at the table beside me:
Man 1: “If you want to make money, if you want to be successful - you need a pre-nump.”
Man 2: “Yeah, you’re right. Really if you want to make money, don’t get married.”
Man 1: “Yep, wait till you’re 40 or 50 to get married and then get a pre-
nump.”
Man 2: “That’s what I told my son, he’s in his early twenty’s and I told him, don’t get married. Now is the time to make money. you want to succeed in life? Don’t get married until you’re in your 30’s or later and have success. you’ll never be successful if you get married now. Now’s the time to make money.”
Man 1: “That’s right. And when you do get married…get a pre-nump! My wife doesn’t have the ability to see the big picture. She doesn’t understand that we might not be together someday. But that’s why you need a pre-nump.”
Wow. I know a lot of people have money on their brains. I know a lot of young men feel pressure to succeed and make money. But what in the world has happened to us when we have conversations like these? Does marriage still mean much of anything? Or is it more like “going steady” for a while? These guys are more worried about loosing their potential fortune than they are finding the woman of their dreams and raising a family and growing old together. money, money, money. I guess that’s just what its all about. sheesh…
