A Bad Day

The last 24 hours of Jesus’ life represent, perhaps, the worst day ever that any person has had to endure.  Luke 22-23 record Jesus experiencing the emotional and physical pain/anguish/suffering of:

1.  Disciples who, in the midst of the last supper, argue about who is the greatest among them

2.  Disciples who, during the aguish of Jesus’ prayer to his father, fall asleep

3.  Betrayal by a friend

4.  arrest

5.  Peter’s desertion

6.  Mocking of guards

7.  Trial before Pilate (twice)

8.  Trial before Herod - and subsequent mocking

9.  Crucifixion and subsequent mocking from guards and theif crucified there with him

The pain of the cross was the last in a long line of sufferings, both emotional and physical endured for our sake, by the Savior.  Thank you Jesus for suffering on our behalf.  Forgive us for when we, like Peter, the disciples, Judas, or the cheif priests, deny, forsake, or otherwise hurt you who’ve done so much for us.
