Happy New Year!

It is my pleasure to wish you a happy new year and pray for a blessed 2007.  New Year’s always brings with it thoughts of a fresh start or a new beginning€¦maybe a chance to try again.  Many of us need fresh starts or new beginnings.  However, I have been comforted lately remembering that our God does not need a fresh start, he does not need a new beginning.  He never stagnates or stalls or gets bored or tired of his Creation.  He continues, with relentless effort, to pursue us€¦to pursue you.  He needs no new years’ resolution €“ This January, He is still tirelessly at work in your life, just as he was last year.  So I encourage you at a time of fresh starts and new beginnings to remember the God who refreshes the weary and satisfies the faint (Jeremiah 31:25), who does not grow tired or weary (Isaiah 40:28), and who dispenses his justice morning by morning and every new day does not fail (Zephaniah 3:5).  And if you need a fresh start, turn first to the one who does not.
